If Not You, Then Who?

Serve this promise. Live your purpose.

If you believe in oneness, in the collective unconscious, it’s incredibly important to acknowledge you have a purpose, a role in this life, an important part to play in evolution. That may seem overwhelming and daunting when it can appear that it’s actually easier to stay stuck, to tread water, and to numb or distract yourself from connecting to what’s really true. But stepping into that light is necessary if you wish to engage in a full human experience and contribute to the world at large.

And that’s the kicker, right? If we stepped into true feeling, without anything to numb ourselves from it, we would see, hear and feel everything we need to so that we could not ignore it any longer. We would know exactly what we need to do at every turn which can mean making large life changes and new choices. Instead we tend to reach for things that quiet our internal voice and that silence or shut out our intuition, so that we can ignore what we know we “need to do,” in favor of maintaining the status quo, no matter how detrimental or unsustainable it may be.

“Do you not see how necessary a world of pains and troubles is to school an intelligence and make it a soul? This is the paradox of evolution: even if our pain is useful, the urge to escape from the pain remains the most powerful instinct of all.”

And yet, here we are, understanding deep down that the only way out is through and accepting the realization that evolution hasn’t caught up as quickly as we need it to. We have an instinct to escape from pain and discomfort but it’s in deciding to stay, in making the choice to breathe through whatever comes up and see ourselves to the other side of it without hiding, avoiding, numbing or distracting, that allows us to evolve in this lifetime.

Because if we choose to hear it, really hear it, if we open up our true selves, with a clear mind and body, we will be unable to go back. To stay in that place of clear connection means our minds expand and we can never go back to unknowing. If we bolster that knowing, that clear connection, with healthy, growth-minded practices, we REALLY will never be able to go back. We never again will be able to trick ourselves into accepting anything less than what’s best for us, and consequently, in regard to oneness, what is also best for the rest of the world.

If we make the choice to step into growth, into truth, and surrender our go-to tools for external validation, distraction and numbing choosing instead to employ practices to keep ourselves in a clear, connected state, we will naturally encounter contrast –which can be painful. But it’s the contrast that helps us to stay on the path. Once we spend more time practicing what’s good for us, what really serves us, the things we used to do out of avoidance will be that much more painful to partake in. That’s the contrast; it helps keep us on the path by making things that used to seem like no big deal to engage in, a huge deal.

“What happens when you let an unsatisfactory present go on long enough? It becomes your entire history.”

I know it can be easy to stay in a little bubble, purposely distracting yourself with necessary day-to-day activities or getting lost in distraction action and numbing yourself. But if we care about ourselves, our family, our children, the human race and this planet, it’s imperative to step into our power, serve our promises and live our purpose.

And it all begins with connecting with our bodies, strengthening our intuition and making choices that truly serve us. When we begin to make choices out of love instead of fear, focusing on what we do want instead of what we don’t, that little internal voice becomes louder and louder, making the path to our purpose more and more clear.  It doesn’t happen in giant leaps. It happens in small steps, taken each day, hinged on trust and a belief that we are all here to serve for the greater good.

And in case you’re wondering…

Do you know how I know you have a specific purpose and that it’s to play an important role in this life? To get out of your comfort zone and share your gifts with the world? Not only for yourself but also for your loved ones and for humanity? I know it because you’re HERE.

Serve this promise. Live your purpose. The world needs you.
